About the Author
Florian Schulz is an award-winning nature photographer who has dedicated his life to capturing inspiring images of wildlife. Schulz is the youngest founding member of the International League of Conservation Photographers, and his photos have appeared in National Geographic, BBC Wildlife, and GEO, among others. His first book, published with Braided River in 2005, Yellowstone and Yukon: Freedom to Roam, was awarded an Independent Publisher Book Award as one of the ten outstanding books of the year and the book Most Likely To Save the Planet. His most recent book is To The Arctic, the official companion book to the IMAX® film for the same name.

Made From Recycled Content.

Florian Schulz takes wonderful photographs and from what I have heard, is a very hard worker, who expends a great deal of effort to capture his subjects. I have his books "Yellowstone to Yukon: Freedom to Roam" and his book "To The Arctic" which is the companion text to the IMAX film of the same name. I thoroughly recommend those books, particularly "To The Arctic" which has some breath-takingly beautiful photographs.
However, this is one Florian Schulz book you should skip. The pictures in "Journey to the Arctic" are virtually all, if not all, recycled from the companion text to the IMAX film "To The Arctic". Nearly picture for picture, the photographs in this book are the same as those in "To the Arctic". Some are simply re-cropped or re-cropped and reversed (e.g the picture on page 30 of the musk oxen in "Journey To The Arctic" is a re-cropped and reversed version of the picture on page 27 of "To The Arctic"; the picture of the polar bear adjacent to the tile page of "Journey To The Arctic" is a re-cropped and reversed version of the picture on the title page of "To The Arctic", etc.).
This book is noticeably smaller (8.5" x 8.5" versus 15.5" x 11") and less lengthy (80 pages versus 212 pages), than "To The Arctic" with a fraction of the photographs in "To the Arctic".
The text is different, but that is not likely why you are purchasing a book like this.
In short, purchase To the Arctic and you will have every picture in this book, plus many, many more in a larger, better format. I love Florian Schulz's photographs and his work in "To the Arctic" is tremendous. It is disappointing, however, that either he or his publishers chose to try to "double-dip" by recycling content in this manner.
