About the Author
Charles Colyott lives on a farm in The Middle of Nowhere, IL, with his wife, two daughters, cats, and a herd of llamas and alpacas. He is surrounded by so much cuteness he finds it difficult to maintain a reputation as a dark and gritty writer. Charles teaches a beginner level Tai Chi Ch'uan class in which no one has died (yet) of the death touch. Unlike his llamas, he does not spit.

/The return of amazing characters

In Pressure Point author Charles Colyott returns with characters we grew to know and love in the first book in the Randall Lee series, Changes (also highly recommended). The reader is reunited with Randall and his girlfriend Tracy, who have one of the most real relationships I have ever encountered in fiction. When all is going well, it is the best, but when there are troubled waters the reader is drawn into Randall's self-doubt and second-guessing in a way that is achingly true-to-life.

The book s full of suspense as Randall exhibits his usual flair for finding himself in what are at best awkward, even dangerous situations. For a book that is character-driven the action is strong. I found myself in that delicious dilemma of wanting to read as quickly as possible to find out what was going to happen next yet also wanting to slow myself down because I knew when I got to the end of the book I would be out of Charles Colyott to read, and that is a sad state in which to find myself.

He has quickly become one of my favorite authors and I hope it is very soon that the rest of the reading universe discovers his engaging way with words, characters and plot.

A good read

Loved the first book in this series.
This second book was good, but not great like the first.
There was less delights, and overall good humor.
More darkness for all the characters.
I am not a fan of darkness.
While the surprise ending opens the way for a third book in the series,
I miss the joy the first book left the reader with.
Will wait to see what sparks are created in the third novel.

Gotta Love Randall!

Randall Lee is my new favorite antihero! He's not the typical tall, dark, handsome, perfect-but-damaged storybook hero. Instead, Randall is an average looking guy who excels in martial arts and gets himself in a lot of trouble while trying to do something good. Randall could lead me anywhere and I'd follow, simply because he's so much fun to hang out with.

Charles Colyott writes with a rare combination of suspense and humor. Pressure Point had me biting my nails one minute and laughing the next. Highly recommended!

Excellent vision of the future, but confuses and demonizes "democracy" when it should have said "representative democracy"

I'm greatly enjoying this book and share the authors' convictions that crowdocracy (radically enhanced direct democracy) is the inevitable future we'll realize before too long. As for how long that will take we don't know, but I'm optimistic that in the next couple of decades we'll start to see very serious efforts at local and national crowdocracy start springing up.

My main quibble so far, which may be more than a quibble, is the authors' strange choice of demonizing the term "democracy" based on the correct assertions that today's version of democracy in the US and UK (the two countries canvassed in this book) are highly problematic in various ways and aren't in fact very democratic. But the cure for bad democracy is more democracy not less democracy. The cure for representative democracy (our current system) is more direct democracy, crowdocracy. So it's a matter of labels and branding. Clearly the authors made a choice to demonize democracy as a branding choice to distinguish crowdocracy from today's representative democracy. But crowdocracy is simply a more comprehensive version of direct democracy, and still very much "democracy," "rule by the people." So I sincerely wish that that the authors' hadn't chosen to demonize "democracy" when they should have always used the qualifying "representative" on their path to promoting crowdocracy.

That said, I'm very much on board with this effort and my nascent attempt to do my part can be found at worldania dot net, a not yet live "cloud country" akin to the already live bitnation dot co and similar cloud country efforts.

Okay...I have loved each of Penny Wylder's books. Her Dad's Friend is my favorite one. She is definitely an author to watch. When she releases a new book, I purchase without wondering if I will like it or not. With Get Me Off, the blurb was fantastic. I want the escapism that a sexy book can bring.

"People are bold on the internet. They say hurtful, horrible things and they don't care who it's aimed at. They don't stop to think that there's a living breathing human being on the other side of their insult" (location 112).

That's powerful! I teach my 12 & 13 year olds that very same message. When Callista accidentally posted the message that she had never had an "O", I was embarrassed as if it was I that had tweeted it, lol. The tweets that she received were awful and Penny kept it mild as far as meanness goes. Twitter posts can get horrible. The response from people in public (the staring, whispering, pictures and the disgusting dude on the train) would have sent me home to hibernate until it blew over. Every woman needs a Heath O-maker James on their team. He swept in and did the most amazing things to Callista! Loved this book.

This was a fun story! I enjoyed it a lot. The byplay with Heath and Callista was hilarious and refreshing. I would have liked there to be a little more depth to the characters and story but it's only a novella so I can understand the lack of it. Besides the brevity of the story, I loved it! I would love to see more of these lovely characters and I look forward to reading the next Penny Wylder book!
